New Year's Resolutions! Make Them, Keep Them or Forget Them? Let's Find Out...

New Years' Resolutions

The sage and witty Mark Twain had this to say about New Year's resolutions.

New Year's Day--Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual. Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink, and swore his last oath. Today, we are a pious and exemplary community. Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient shortcomings considerably shorter than ever. We shall also reflect pleasantly upon how we did the same old thing last year about this time. However, go in, community. New Year's is a harmless annual institution, of no particular use to anybody save as a scapegoat for promiscuous drunks, and friendly calls, and humbug resolutions, and we wish you to enjoy it with a looseness suited to the greatness of the occasion.
-Letter to Virginia City Territorial Enterprise, Jan. 1863

Being candid, some of our 2020 goals quickly evaporated, some due to Covid-19 and some just went away! Reflecting on 2020 and not really knowing what lies ahead for 2021, the team at DN5 will Chart a New Course, building on our past successes and taking some chances. Drumroll please for a review of what was accomplished and a sneak peek at what's ahead...

It is Oyster season! Cotuit is world famous for its Oysters so it was a "must do" that we introduce the hand-sketched Oyster in our first collection of wallpapers. Coordinating our wallpaper and fabric is so easy. The mills we use have excellent color matching capability and use only eco-friendly inks for printing and have implemented impressive green disposal solutions.  All good things for Mother Nature and Saving our Planet!

The same image can have a very different look and feel depending on the actual size of the image, offering so many new options.  Another 2020 resolution accomplished! All fabrics are available online at www.designnofive.com. Have fun mixing and matching!

Many of you recently participated in a survey where we asked what you would like us to work on in 2021. We listened and we heard you when you asked for bedding and table linens.

Here we go... 2021 New Year's Resolutions

only coastal inspired, must be fun & bring joy, promote sustainable, eco-friendly design options and above all keep the creative juices flowing...

1. expand our wallpaper collection

2. offer coastal inspired bedding

3. create table linens

4. ready made window treatments

5. feature a coastal lifestyle in our Journal by working with many fun and inspiring partners who share our vision

Using eco-friendly and sustainable fabrics is extremely important to us so we will address the bedding desires by coordinating our coastal designs with Libeco Linen's ready-made Belgian linen sheets, duvets and pillow shams. DN5 has worked with Libeco Linen for over a decade and currently we use their linen as the ground cloth for all our printed fabrics.

We'll continue to work on our bedding collection as 2021 evolves!

Experimenting with different production techniques and fabric options for our table linen endeavors will be focus for our design team.

Create ready made window treatments - thinking about tie-tab panels, pole pockets drapes and cafe style curtains.
