A Taste of Summer…

Coastal living at its best. Simple, casual and so delicious!

There is nothing better than fresh lettuce and produce straight from the garden,

local oysters on the half shell and a custom cocktail for summertime entertaining.

Bolted onions always add a bit of interest. That’s how I justify having bolted onions in my garden.

Kicking off the festivities are oysters on the half shell, blue fish pate by Nice Catch and assorted cheeses plus Phil’s famous cocktail concoction! Featuring the More Perfect Diamond -a little backstory… my husband Phil was given one task when we renovated our 1700s Sea Captain’s Home in 2016 - the bar! Hence we have The Cocktail Room with The Bar leading directly out to our patio and potager garden.

Shuck Yeah! Cotuit oysters are world famous and a must for any of our summer season pre-dinner rituals. Oysters on the half shell combined with Phil’s More Perfect Diamond with fresh wild mint from our yard make for a lovely wind down after a full day of sailing, dog walking, gardening and yard maintenance.

I have very special permission to divulge the ingredients and how to make the More Perfect Diamond…

How to

  • Heavily muddle 5 large mint leaves with a half shot of Roses lime juice using a pestle and mortar.

  • Strain into a tall glass over ice.

  • Add a shot of gin.

  • Fill w/seltzer.

  • Top with a squeeze of lime and a mint leaf.

More cocktails from Phil in future Journal Posts, along with YouTube video links …something to look forward to.
